About the role
We are recruiting for a Junior Software Engineer for a full-service wealth management house, they are a new leader in the UK, skilled in delivering integrated-led growth. They are a company embarking on an exciting journey of growth and transformation.

To help foster this environment, you will be based in the head office where you will be surrounded by the whole Technology team as well as several other key business areas, including the Senior Management team, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Business Support, and Finance. Learning and development is a key commitment we have to junior members of the team, and this close proximity to valuable tribal knowledge and experience will be invaluable.
Salary: Up to £29,000 DoE
The role is an office based role working 37.5hrs between Monday and Friday, based in Boldon.
Role Responsibilities:
You will contribute the design, delivery, testing, and support of a broad range of Technology systems and services, both client and colleague facing. Personal and professional growth is paramount and as such, you will take on several key responsibilities with the aim of giving you direct experience of a broad spectrum of processes and technologies. You will work closely with senior members of the team on a day-to-day basis and will be 100% hands-on.
Your time will be (loosely) split across the following day-to-day activities:
Delivering ‘small change’ initiatives (30%)
Joining daily scrum sessions and taking responsibility to deliver tasks that are assigned to you on a fortnightly basis
Owning and delivering “small changes”, which may range from 1 day to 1-2 sprints
2nd / 3rd Line Support (30%)
Communicating with business users to help support business-critical systems and services including, but not limited to, Client Portal, Gateway, data warehouse, and Tableau reports
Writing, testing, and deploying fixes to production defects
Triage and escalation of support tickets
Writing and maintaining knowledge-based articles
Helping to embed a tiered support model collaboratively with Technology Operations teams
Testing & QA (20%)
Contributing to the testing of bug-fixes, small changes, and larger “project” change initiatives
Helping to build and maintain an automated test framework and test packs
New business acquisition data migrations (20%)
Providing analysis, testing and execution of data migrations from firms being acquired via the ‘Downstream Buyout’ (DBO) process
Working closely with senior stakeholders and new firm principals to ensure good communication between departments is maintained
Other key activities include:
Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
Following software development best practices
Contributing to regular Scrum ceremonies
Building and maintaining relationships with other Technology and business teams
