Core Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of Commercial/Specialist clients.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of clients’ businesses, risks, and strategic priorities.

  • Facilitate insightful client meetings, presentations, and periodic reviews to deliver customized insurance solutions and advice.

  • Provide expert recommendations on insurance strategies, risk management approaches, and market trends.

Business Growth & Development
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities in the Scottish market.

  • Deepen existing client relationships through effective cross-selling and upselling initiatives.

  • Develop winning proposals and participate in tenders to secure new business.

  • Build and maintain a strong professional network by engaging in key industry events and networking opportunities.

Policy Renewal & Placement
  • Formulate and execute renewal strategies tailored to client needs.

  • Negotiate favourable insurance terms and pricing with insurers to deliver competitive, high-value coverage solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal placement and technical teams to structure optimal insurance programs.

  • Ensure policies are placed accurately, in compliance with regulations, and within agreed timelines.

Team Collaboration & Compliance
  • Work in partnership with Account Handlers, Claims teams, and Broking professionals to deliver consistent and high-quality service.

  • Adhere to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulatory standards and organizational governance protocols.

  • Maintain meticulous records of client data and update reporting pipelines as required.

  • Support the development and mentorship of junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and professional growth.

Market Expertise
  • Stay informed of emerging industry trends, evolving risks, and insurer appetites.

  • Anticipate client needs by proactively identifying innovative insurance solutions.

  • Ensure alignment with changes in regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience & Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in Commercial/Specialist Insurance within the UK market.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Commercial/Specialist Lines insurance products and services.

  • Proven track record in account development, client retention, and business acquisition.

  • ACII qualification or progress towards achieving certification highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.

  • Exceptional client engagement and relationship-building skills, adopting a consultative and client-first approach.

  • Outstanding negotiation, communication, and presentation talents—both verbal and written.

  • Results-oriented with a strong business acumen and a focus on achieving growth objectives.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively and ensure attention to detail.
