Professional Indemnity Executive
Department: Commercial Insurance
Reports To: Head of Professional Risks / Account Director
Location: Bristol and Birmingham
Employment Type: Full-time/ Hybrid
Job Purpose
The Professional Indemnity Executive is responsible for managing, developing, and servicing a portfolio of Professional Indemnity (PI) clients. The role involves providing specialist advice, placing cover with insurers, negotiating terms, and ensuring clients receive comprehensive risk and claims support. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of PI insurance, excellent relationship management skills, and a proactive approach to business development.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management
Manage an allocated portfolio of Professional Indemnity clients across various sectors (e.g., legal, construction, financial services, technology, consultancy).
Deliver high-quality advice on coverage, limits, excess structures, and policy wording.
Conduct renewal reviews, identify coverage gaps, and recommend appropriate risk solutions.
Maintain strong, long-term client relationships and act as a trusted advisor.
Placement & Market Engagement
Prepare market presentations and underwriting submissions.
Negotiate competitive terms with insurers.
Maintain strong working relationships with key insurers and underwriters.
Stay informed of market trends, capacity changes, and emerging risks.
New Business Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Support tender submissions and proposal documents.
Cross-sell additional insurance products where appropriate.
Claims Support
Assist clients with notification and management of PI claims.
Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal representatives to ensure timely resolution.
Provide strategic claims guidance and advocacy for clients.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven
experience handling Professional Indemnity insurance.
Strong understanding of policy wordings, exclusions, and endorsements.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple renewals and deadlines effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of insurance regulation and compliance standards.
Desirable
Cert CII / Dip CII qualified (or working towards qualification).
Experience dealing with complex or high-value PI placements.
Existing insurer or client relationships within professional services sectors.
