Quantity Surveyor – New-Build Social Housing
Location: North East
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction and housing development team in the North East.
You will play a key role in the commercial management of new-build housing and regeneration projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all commercial and cost management aspects of residential construction projects from inception through to completion.
Prepare and monitor project budgets, financial forecasts, and cost reports.
Carry out valuations and agree interim payments with clients and subcontractors.
Manage procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tender enquiries and contract documentation.
Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
Assess, value, and process variations and claims.
Maintain accurate records and ensure robust contractual and financial control.
Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and commercial colleagues to ensure efficient project delivery.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and relevant legislation.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within residential construction, affordable housing, or regeneration projects.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts (JCT / NEC).
Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
