The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for producing accurate, competitive and well-presented priced tenders, often within tight deadlines. You will play a key role in supporting business growth by maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners, encouraging repeat and future tender opportunities.
As an Estimator, you will review project drawings and specifications, prepare detailed cost estimates, identify risks and opportunities, and support projects through the post-tender stage to contract award.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and competitive priced tenders within agreed timescales
Analyse project requirements and identify cost implications
Produce detailed take-offs and Bills of Quantities
Liaise with clients, consultants and project teams post-tender to progress projects to award
Maintain transparency and accuracy throughout pre- and post-tender discussions
Identify potential risks affecting cost, programme or quality and recommend mitigation measures
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify scope, answer queries and negotiate terms
Maintain accurate records of tender documentation and correspondence
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Building Regulations and health & safety standards
Utilise estimating software packages efficiently
About You
Proven experience in an estimating role within the construction industry
Strong knowledge of local supply chains and current market rates
Highly numerate with excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills
Confident working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Sound knowledge of building materials, construction methods and regulations
Understanding of contractual procedures and commercial responsibilities
Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently and as part of a team
