Junior Claims Handler – Credit Hire
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (35 hours/week)
Salary: £25,000 per annum (DOE — depending on credit hire / motor claims experience)
The Role
As a Junior Claims Handler – Credit Hire, you will provide vital administrative and operational support to the claims team. You will help advance files, gather documents, liaise with third parties and ensure clients receive excellent communication and service. This role is ideal for someone who already has some exposure to credit hire or motor claims and is eager to grow in this field.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with opening new credit hire claims: logging into case management systems
Collect, organise, and manage documentation: hire agreements, repair estimates, invoices, photographs, correspondence
Make routine calls and send emails to suppliers, garages, insurers and other parties to chase outstanding information
Support senior handlers with basic liability / indemnity assessments (under supervision)
Prepare draft letters / correspondence (e.g. document requests, standard letters of claim) for senior review
Maintain up‑to‑date file notes, diaries, status tracking in case management systems
Monitor deadlines and ensure key dates are flagged / escalated when required
Assist in negotiating smaller / routine settlements under guidance
Provide client service: respond to general enquiries, update clients / third parties on progress
Support general administrative tasks: scanning, filing, logging correspondence, preparing settlement packs under supervision
Skills & Experience
Prior experience in credit hire claims handling, motor claims administration or a similar role is essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; clear and professional
Strong organisational ability; ability to prioritise and work to instructions
Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and data entry
Basic IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to pick up new case management software
Enthusiasm to learn the legal / technical aspects of credit hire and claims handling
