About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven Contracts Manager to oversee multiple residential construction sites across the North East of England. Reporting to the Head of Construction, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of high-quality homes, while building and leading a high-performing operational team.
This is a key leadership position where you’ll balance strategic oversight with on-the-ground performance and people development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day construction activity across multiple live housing developments
Ensure sites deliver on time, on budget, and to required safety and quality standards
Oversee and support Site Managers, subcontractors, and supplier relationships
Drive site performance through regular visits, monitoring KPIs, and ensuring programme adherence
Lead team development, mentoring, and recruitment to support regional growth
Promote a strong health, safety, and customer-first culture
Actively participate in succession planning and long-term talent development across the region
Skills & Experience
Demonstrated success in a Contracts Manager or senior construction leadership role
Proven track record within the residential construction sector
Strong commercial awareness and cost-control capability
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Deep understanding of H&S regulations, building legislation, and local planning procedures
Experience with affordable housing, joint ventures or partnership developments beneficial
