About the role
We are currently recruiting a permanent Technical Estimator for our Precision Engineering client based in Gateshead, with a salary of £35,000 - £40,000.
Role:
Support the operations team with quotations and estimates
Receiving and reviewing all incoming tender enquiries, researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractor and analysing data that can affect costs
Develop business opportunities and work closely with customers to fulfil existing and new potential manufacturing requirements. The components produced are both bespoke and challenging in manufacture
Key Responsibilities:
Compilation of estimates for new business
Follow company’s new product introduction (NPI) process, ensuring all requests for quotes (RFQ’s) are dealt with in the customers stipulated timeframe
Actively engage in researching, sourcing, negotiating and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers
Assist with post contract reviews to ensure new jobs have achieved the estimated added value and help identify improvement methods to increase efficiencies
Maintaining quote and planning data on companies IT systems
Managing supplier database
Liaising with the engineering and production teams where costs have exceeded estimates and liaise with cross functional teams to identify root cause
Skills and Experience:
Level 3 CNC Machining (Mechanical Engineering) via apprenticeship or equivalent
3 years + experience of providing estimates for customers’ requests for quotations within an engineering manufacturing environment
Experience of researching and understanding current market pricing for subcontractors and materials
Experience of reading, interpreting, and evaluating engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM’) and specifications
Good commercial and business acumen with knowledge of bid compilation and estimating procedures
High level understanding of production scheduling
