Technical Sales Writer
Hybrid Working (Flexible)
Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester
An exciting opportunity has come up with a leading law firm. They are looking for a Technical Sales Writer to join their marketing department.
The Technical Sales Writer will be responsible for the management of the firm's responses to tenders. They will coordinate tender response teams that work together to produce persuasive, clearly structured, and high-quality responses that achieve high success rates in the strict scoring of tenders. They will also manage the Administration Assistant who will support them in delivery of this high-volume workload. They will also be responsible for working with fee earners to create compelling pitch documents that respond to client needs. They will also collaborate with fee earners to co-author content which raises the profile, and builds the reputation, of the firm by sharing our expertise in an accessible, clear and expert way.
Bids and Tenders
Overall management of the tender process and project managing these to completion
Review bid opportunities and guide fee earners on their decision to bid/tender
Create quality responses to bid questions and support fee earners on responses that require their input
Liaise with other departments in the firm e.g. People team, Responsible Business Board and Finance where their input is needed as part of our response
Work with Finance and fee earners on pricing
Support and coach fee earners at presentation stage
Gather feedback on all bids/tenders and create de-brief reports
Commission training for fee earners on aspects of preparing responses, and provide a coaching role for individuals to help support their personal development
Provide insights to a number of stakeholders on new trends identified or updates that may impact the business e.g. social value requirements, new accreditations etc.
Review performance and identify opportunities to improve our systems and responses to ensure continual improvement
Manage the Administration Assistant
Pitches and "sales" materials
Work with fee earners to produce compelling pitch documents that best describe the way the firm can meet the particular needs of businesses
Produce a library of sector specific documents which can be used by sector groups
Work with fee earners to identify opportunities for producing good content that shares our expertise with appropriate client and target audiences
Collaborate on deciding the best form for that content to take
Co-author / co-produce some of that content
Work on content streams, for instance net zero / sustainability, where the firm can produce a proactive stream of content that helps to define our position in the market
Excellent writing skills to produce compelling, clearly structured content.
Excellent time and project management skills
Effective and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to challenge and support fee earners to make the best decisions on what we bid for and how we provide the best response
Impeccable attention to detail
Strong under pressure
Very occasional flexibility of working hours to support particular periods of high demand
IT literate and confident in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Confident, positive and proactive
Desire to continually improve and learn from feedback
Good resource management skills
25 days holiday increasing to 27 after 5 years' service.
