A leading provider of global satellite services to the maritime, land and aero markets are looking for a senior network engineer to join their ever-growing team. The renowned market leader also provides voice and data solutions for users in remote locations outside terrestrial networks, and design and integrate systems ensuring safety in the most hazardous of environments. Role Accountabilities;
Management of the local and wide area networks including administration, patching and configuration updates.
Design, Plan and implement changes to the network as required to provide a fully resilient mission critical service to our customers.
Liaise with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues that have been escalated.
Liaise with 3rd party MPLS / VPLS providers to ensure resilience in the global network.
Assist with the Information Security design and implementation to ensure the networks are secure and help manage security incidents.
Contribute to IT projects where there is an impact on the network.
Produce management information as required by the Head of Team.
Design and implement the network equipment refresh for our Amsterdam and Sydney datacentres.
Continually evaluate changes in technology and investigate / make recommendations where improvements / cost savings can be made.
Ensure that any planned downtime is minimised and carried out outside of business operating hours, ensuring that these outages and their impact are well communicated.
Ensure that any changes are thoroughly tested and do not impact availability and performance of the key systems.
Perform out-of-hours support, resolving issues when they occur
Working with the Head of IT to plan implementation to the network infrastructure
About you;
Experience using CCNA qualification (minimum)
Experience of managing a diverse network
Advanced TCP/IP troubleshooting
Experience of Cisco Routing / Switching and ASA Enterprise firewalls.
Dealing with 3rd party engineers to troubleshoot issues
Must be able to design and implement new network solutions based on business requirements, providing full documentation and implementation plans.
Excellent communication skills are required to communicate technical requirements to non-technical staff, ensuring full understanding
Must be able to manage own workload and prioritise effectively with minimal supervision
