Quantity Surveyor
Location: North East England
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the North East. The successful candidate will provide commercial expertise across a range of refurbishment projects, ensuring that all works are procured and delivered on budget, to programme, and to the highest quality standards.
From initial cost planning through to final account, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing costs and maximising value for money, whilst ensuring full compliance with legal, contractual, and quality assurance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day cost control, monitoring, and reporting across assigned projects.
Measure progress, prepare and submit valuations, manage final accounts through to retention release, and monitor receipt of payments in line with contract terms.
Work closely with the procurement team to support material purchasing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Lead on subcontractor procurement, tender evaluation, and ongoing commercial management.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Support project teams in ensuring all works comply with relevant Health & Safety and building regulations.
Essential Skills and Experience
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
Strong knowledge of construction processes and refurbishment works.
Excellent numerical and financial management skills.
Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to interpret and manage complex contractual and technical information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.
Sound understanding of current HSE, building regulations, and legal requirements.
