Role: Network Operations Engineer – Provisioning
Location: Flexible Hybrid Working base in Maidenhead or Reading
Salary: Negotiable
NRG are Delighted to be working closely with the UK leading infrastructure managed services business for the mid-market. Due to growth and expansion, they are looking to recruit a Network Operations Engineer initially on a 12-month FTC with the plan to move to permanent.
You will be a key member of the Network infrastructure Operations team ensuring efficient, and timely provisioning of infrastructure network services for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review capacity information and update documentation to share with Sales/Solution Architects
- Follow predefined principles to ensure that consistency and standardisation of all network devices are kept up to the highest levels.
- Collaborate with Sales & Solution Architect functions to support/verify proposed client solutions.
- Review solution proposals and verify governance required from a Network infrastructure perspective, capacity/feasibility.
- Ensure provisioning process documentation is regularly reviewed and kept up to date.
- Change management – prepare and submit changes to the change advisory board, following standard operating procedures/processes.
- Ensuring that where maintenance work is required, advance and formal notice are provided to clients in line with company SLAs.
- Execute CAB approved network changes.
- Review and ensure network asset information kept accurate in the CMDB
- Manage interaction with partners to support the Network Infrastructure availability and capacity.
Experience
- Experience in a Networking background, with large or multiple sites.
- Strong experience using service provider level Juniper routing / switching / firewall equipment.
- Experience with routing protocols including MP-BGP & OSPFv2/v3, ideally in service provider Networks
- Experience with MPLS technologies in service provider networks including the following protocols and products: LDP, L2VPNs, VPLS, L3VPNs, MPLS-TE.
- Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls especially incorporating IPSEC and SSL protocols.
- Experience with other network technologies, including HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Dot1q, QinQ, LAG/LACP, MTUs, CAM, ARP, CDP.
- Experience with CAT5 and fibre cabling and Data Centres cabling management.
- Experience with Data Centres network monitoring including SNMP and Syslog protocols.
- Familiar with ITIL, project management frameworks and network industry best practices.
- Knowledge of IPv4 & IPv6 addressing and sub-netting
