Lead Product Manager
Overview:
37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working with an office based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Our Client is looking for an experienced Product Manager to work closely with the Head of IT UK to build an excellent product function, coaching new and existing colleagues in Product Management best practice. You'll work with their Product Owners across the business to advise what is technically possible for their product vision. You'll also have a firm grasp on value tracking, ensuring development achieves the predicted Return on Investment
Responsibilities:
Working with Head of IT UK you will implement a robust product management capability - including, but not limited to: the hiring and line management of skilled product managers, roadmap creation defining and implementing project and release management controls
You should be able to establish a shared vision, set realistic goals, and describe the benefits your products should deliver
You will ensure business goals are formulated and prioritised business with relevant stakeholders
You will be responsible for creating the framework to be used when defining product goals and metrics as a product function, creation of Performance Framework(s)
Lead the product team and ensure the products your team are responsible for are developed to an appropriate level of quality taking into consideration expected lifetime, investment and timeframes
Define Service standards and ensure the team has adopted them
Actively support and coach the team in Product Management, Agile and Lean best practices
You will achieve these by:
Building an effective team and product capability
Understanding product architecture and specification
Working collaboratively with not only the business but the development teams to ensure products meet the specification
Demonstrating expert knowledge of Jira
Essential:
Demonstrable experience as head of product, senior/lead product manager, or strong product owner experience demonstrating expertise in product backlog management, prioritisation, demos, user story creation and feature/epic definition
Experience of developing and communicating product roadmaps for multiple products
Expertise in creating, prioritising and managing product backlogs (new features and technical debt reduction)
Experience of general insurance, an understanding of regulatory requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to lead teams, focus on our customers or engage with the business
Desirable:
Excellent working knowledge of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence software
Experience of products within the guidewire suite would be preferrable but not essential
Degree in computer science or similar
Professional Scrum Product Owner II / III qualification or Agile PM / Scaled Agile qualifications
