Trustee Treasurer

About the role

Age UK is an influential and renowned charity organisation that holds the distinction of being the country’s leading charity dedicated to promoting the well-being and quality of life of individuals in their later years. With a deep commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their age, can make the most of their later life, Age UK has established itself as a trusted and reliable source of support and assistance.

The Age UK network includes Age Scotland, Age Cymru and Age NI and more than 125 local Age UKs throughout England. Together, we provide a wide range of services to help people in later life throughout the UK.

Age UK North Yorkshire Coast & Moors operate across multiple locations throughout the boroughs of Ryedale and Scarborough. We help hundreds of people aged 50+ every year by offering activities, events, support, and information. Whilst we are a small part of the Age UK family, we are a local and independent charity, and all money that we raise is invested within our local area.

We rely on the generosity of the community, funders, businesses and people like you to help us keep these services running in the Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale areas. We are supported by public donations, our charity shops, and charitable grants. Our main office is based at Aberdeen Walk in Scarborough, and we have a number of charity shops in the area.

As we promote the well-being of people aged 50+, we have a vision of communities where everyone is valued, listened to, and can access services that allow them to lead fulfilling lives.

We intend to accomplish this in three ways: first, by serving as advocates for the 50+, promoting their views and needs, and campaigning for change; second, by identifying gaps in pre-existing support, and filling those gaps ourselves, to ensure that help is always available for any issue; and third, by creating a number of informed and high-quality services, that are dedicated to the provision of their needs.

Our diverse community is always changing, and our services continue to adapt. Together, we can create lasting, positive change.
