Senior Infrastructure DevOps & Cloud Engineer

About the role

We’re recruiting an Infrastructure DevOps & Cloud Engineer to join the Infrastructure DevOps & Cloud Solutions Team for an IT Service Delivery organisation. They deliver 24x7 services through their Operations Centre, with direct management of EMEA’s 6 Data Centres and Cloud platforms, as well as architecting and implementing new solutions. The services they deliver utilises capabilities from 3rd parties through managed service contracts, as well as the internal core team of cloud and infrastructure experts.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (DoE)

The role offers hybrid working 37.5hrs between Monday and Friday, with an office based in Newcastle.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Have a deep and broad knowledge of Microsoft computer platforms and Cloud solutions.

  • Be able to communicate well in both verbal and written form.

  • Expertise in cloud solutions is essential (Azure experience would be an advantage).

  • A solid technical background in Windows Server Administration is required as a core responsibility.

  • Provide tier 3 support to the existing on premise windows infrastructure.

  • Ours is a 24 hour a day operation and candidates will need to be flexible and able to work out of hours as required.

  • International travel may be required for project delivery.

  • Supporting the IT department as a whole evolve our best practices for deploying our solutions both into Microsoft Azure and our on premise Data Centres.

Role Requirements:

Microsoft Azure

  • Networking (Virtual Networks, Virtual WAN’s, Express Routes, Private Links, Checkpoints)

  • Compute (Virtual Machines, Availability Sets, ASR)

  • Security (CIS Benchmark, Key Vaults, AAD, MFA, MS Defender for Cloud)

On Premise

  • VMWare 6.7, VMWare Site Recovery Manager (SRM), Windows Server 2012+, Active Directory, Group Policy, HPE Server Infrastructure.

  • Experience in troubleshooting technical problems involving software and operating systems.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Terraform, MS ARM Templates

  • Scripting (PowerShell, bash)

Monitoring

  • PRTG, Azure Monitoring

Process & Change Control

  • ITIL framework, ITSM with ServiceNow

  • Be able to create technical documentation for the technical audience and fully conversant with the change control precepts and practices.
