Payroll Officer

NRG is currently seeking a skilled Payroll Officer on behalf of a well-established organisation based in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a trusted employer in the charity sector, providing essential accountancy and payroll support to charitable and voluntary organisations.

Payroll Officer

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (office-based, full-time)

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process monthly payrolls for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Set up new customers, collect payroll information, and manage relevant checks.
  • Handle auto-enrolment, e-banking transactions, pension, and HMRC submissions.
  • Maintain up-to-date spreadsheets and monitor outstanding debtors.
  • Deliver professional and timely correspondence to clients.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in finance and payroll functions, preferably within a payroll bureau or accountancy practice.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll and accounting principles, including current legislation.
  • Proficiency in Sage payroll or similar software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding, data protection regulations, health and safety, and equalities legislation.
