Payroll Officer

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join a well-known, established organisation on a temporary Fixed Term Contract as a Payroll Officer. The role presents an outstanding opportunity to develop your career by joining large, well known employer.

Responsible to: Payroll Manager

Location: Office Based in Newcastle

Key Purpose: To form part of the Payroll function. Assisting to deliver 2 monthly Payrolls

and 3 Pension schemes, to meet statutory obligations and providing

Management Information.

Responsibilities will include

  • Expenses input, verification to receipts, obtaining valid authorization, maintenance of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Assisting input/and or review of new starters onto the Accord payroll system
  • Assisting on boarding CLP’s (Constituency Labour Party) & Labour Group staff for starters, changes, leavers, costings & queries. To ensure funding & funding arrangements are in place in advance of payment through the Labour Party payroll.
  • Assisting calculate and administrate all Payroll changes and incremental increases as instructed by HR.
  • To assist processing House of Lords Opposition Payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Administration of Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Shared Parental Leave
  • Administration of Sickness Leave
  • Assisting the administration of payroll duties
  • To run RTI routines
  • To administer Pension scheme
  • To produce Payroll Liabilities reports
    • To carry out any other reasonable task as requested by the Payroll Manager

    Skills/abilities

    • Ability to work on own initiative within a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to use Microsoft Office software.
    • Ability to prioritize work effectively to tight deadlines.
    • Ability to manually calculate payroll costs
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent administration skills
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

    Experience

    • Experience in a generalist payroll environment providing guidance to staff
    • Experience of running payrolls from input to RTI stage including generating management reports.

    • Employer Pension RTSS Scheme (up to 32.5%)
    • Salary £30,000 - £34,000
