Role Overview:

As a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical support to our clients customers, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of their IT environments. You will work closely with the 1st Line team, escalating more challenging issues where necessary, and collaborate with senior engineers on project delivery and continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd line technical support to clients across a variety of industries, both remotely and onsite.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to Microsoft 365 (including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive).

  • Support, configure, and manage Microsoft Azure environments (Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory, Networking, etc.).

  • Administer and troubleshoot virtualisation platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware).

  • Collaborate with the 1st Line team, taking escalated issues and ensuring prompt resolution.

  • Perform software updates, patches, and system maintenance to optimise client environments.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of client configurations and support tickets.

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of IT projects, including cloud migrations and system upgrades.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on IT best practices to clients.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a 2nd Line IT Support role or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure administration, including managing virtual machines, storage, and networking.

  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware).

  • Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server environments.

  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on delivering timely solutions.

  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple support requests.

Desirable Skills:

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-100, AZ-104, AZ-500).

  • Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell).

  • Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery.

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices.
