About the role
A well know Car retailer are currently looking to invite a Senior Network Engineer into their growing business. You will have the opportunity to Support a network engineer and being part of the IT Infrastructure Management Team.
Your main responsibility will be updating and implementing new technologies within the data network in the UK, a company vehicle is provided as part of the package. There is potential for International Travel to liaise with and support our US parent company.
The business is undergoing exciting change following an acquisition with a planned MPLS to SD-WAN Migration, Data Centre Technology Migration, Firewall Migration, and group wifi migration in the next 12 months.
This role will be Hybrid.
- Firewall Technologies (Palo Alto / Zscaler beneficial)
- SDWAN Experience (HP/Silverpeak Beneficial)
- LAN / WAN Technologies (HP/Aruba Beneficial) Enterprise Wireless
- Survey/Troubleshooting/Design/Configuration/Implementation
- MPLS Knowledge
- CISCO Routers and Switches
- Network Protocols (IPSEC, HSRP, VRRP, QoS, GRE, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP etc…)
- VxLan knowledge would be beneficial
- 802.1x / 802.1q and Radius
- VPN and Remote Access Technologies
- VoIP Network engineering
- Cloud Network Provisioning
- Network Design and IP addressing
- DNS & DHCP
- Scripting Knowledge (PowerShell, Python) – Desirable
Key responsibilities for the role:
- Network Capacity and Performance Monitoring and Management
- Ensure vendor and security best practices are followed
- Streamline and standardise processes using technology, tools with a common-sense approach
- Lead and manage technical projects
- Maintain documentation standards
- Provide remote support to Field Engineers and Service Desk
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and be a technical escalation point for the team
