Payroll Officer

About the role

 We have an exciting new opportunity to be a part of a nationwide charity helping people facing the most challenging of circumstances to make positive change.

As a Payroll Officer, you will play an important role being responsible for the delivery of a complex monthly payroll for approximately 650 employees using Cintra IQ, with accuracy and pace being crucial to success.

Job responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely input and processing of data in conjunction with monthly payroll, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Following full process end to end for New Starters, Leavers, Internal Moves and Change of Circumstances.

  • Understanding of reasons behind financial costings (Nominal Codes) and budgets.

  • Compliance with statutory deadlines and company payroll procedures.

  • Professional, proactive, and engaging approach to queries and requests for information, whilst managing the payroll inbox.

  • Calculation of additional payments and deductions in line with overtime, timesheets, sickness absence, annual leave, and pro-ratad salaries inclusive of Self-Service module.

  • Ability to understand multiple working rotas, and the application of various overtime payments.

  • Timely resolution of errors and amendments raised from payroll queries including notification to the employee.

  • Processing and upload of Workplace Pension contributions to provider ensuring monthly contributions balance correctly.

  • Understanding of HMRC submissions and tax codes.

  • Compliance with all legal, GDPR and health and safety requirements.

  • Ability to build internal relationships with stakeholders, developing meaningful relationships.

  • A solution focused approach to dealing with complex queries, with the ability to independently seek resolutions.

  • Continually looking to assess, develop, evaluate, and improve processes to ensure compliance, and effectiveness within the People team.

  • Provide cover for the Payroll Supervisor.

About you:

  • Manual calculation skills.

  • Previous monthly end to end payroll experience.

  • Excellent communication skills to deal with queries and stakeholders efficiently.
