About the role
We have a brilliant new opportunity working with a Housing firm in Byker as a management accountant.
The role will play a significant part in delivering an excellent finance service to the organisation. Optimising the use of the finance software to develop and deliver increased reporting and control to support the organisation in delivering its strategic and operational objectives to positively impact their residents and communities.
Ensuring the effective day to day operations of the finance functions processes and the provision of a comprehensive business partnering approach to the Group’s Management, staff, and external bodies. Provide monthly management accounts to business branches along with relevant reports and analysis. Work with the Finance Director to produce detailed annual budgets and forecasts. Assist the Finance Director with board reports and associated analysis.
Main Duties:
Preparation of the monthly management accounts for multiple business branches, including producing and positively influence the finance team efficiency and effectiveness.
Alongside the finance director, manage the production of the annual budgets, ensuring relevant budget working papers and financial models are maintained. Produce reforecasts when required (half yearly at present) for management and the Board.
Prepare, produce and present of quarterly reports including relevant analysis
for the business branches.
Shared responsibility for the effective day to day operation of the accounts payable function including processing invoices, producing supplier payments,
and ensuring positive relationships with suppliers.
Ensure statutory returns are completed and submitted within deadlines including but not limited to VAT returns, Charity Commission submission and management information to funders.
To liaise directly with the external auditor, ensuring the production of the annual financial statements. Prepare audit file, working papers, and respond to enquiries to ensure the successful audit of the annual financial statements.
Produce and submit accurate evidence to deadlines to support grant claims for our services.
Implement and promote a Business Partnering approach, meeting regularly with budget holders to provide timely and relevant information to drive business performance. Ensure actions are agreed and delivered within agreed timeframes.
Demonstrate leadership through the coordination, planning and review of the Finance Assistant work and outputs. Providing support, guidance,
and advice to
maximise effectiveness.
Ensuring the accuracy of the trial balance including posting transactions, corrections, journals and producing balance sheet reconciliations.
To act as deputy for the Finance Director on finance matters when required.
Other duties consistent with the successful management as reasonably directed by the Finance Director.
Requirements:
Part/Fully qualified accountant or qualified via experience, with minimum 2 years within a similar role.
Experience of management accounting and effective internal reporting, statutory accounts production and external audit.
Knowledge of financial procedures and internal financial controls.
Past use if
computerised finance and accounting systems, preferably Sage Intacct.
Budget setting and forecasting
and production of accounting journals including accruals, prepayments, depreciation experience.
Able to demonstrate innovation and/or approach to continuous improvement of internal reporting and procedures.
Be able to provide guidance and support to colleagues to deliver an excellent finance service.
