Consultant Q&A Series

  • Publish Date: Posted almost 2 years ago

Over the last several weeks, we’ve been running a Q&A series with our consultants on LinkedIn, finding out more about them, their role, their motivations and a little fun fact or two!

Consultants from across the three divisions – Corporate Services, Tech & Digital and Exec Search & Selection - have all participated in the questionnaire and supplied some interesting behind-the-scenes facts and photos.

The common thread is that all of our consultants enjoy the challenge of finding the perfect candidates for their clients and finding the dream job for their candidates. It’s both an individual and team effort, and NRG’s legacy continues to thrive with a fantastic team at the helm.

At NRG we provide opportunities for our consultants to gain a professional qualification in recruitment and to learn from the more experienced members of the team – they’re excellent mentors! It’s a rewarding role with lots of scope to make it your own and set up your desk in a way that benefits you and how you like to work.

The answers vary across the board to the question “what motivates you in your role?” but one recurring theme is: the results! The satisfaction that comes from working with a client to determine what kind of person they’re looking for, to placing a candidate that thrives in the role.

Our consultants agree it’s a very fulfilling job with no two days ever looking the same.

When asked, “Why choose to work at NRG?” the answers speak for themselves!

Adam Gowland, Tech & Digital: NRG is a well-established business in the North East that is known for its consultative approach to recruitment which really resonated with me.

Anne White, Corporate Services: There is a certain prestige behind the NRG brand, and I wanted to work for a business that invests in its staff, with opportunities for progression and development.

Catherine Hingston, Head of Corporate Services: Brand, but most importantly the lovely people I get to work with every day.

Gary Rogers, Head of Tech & Digital: The honest truth is that I was looking for work and NRG had me in consideration for a couple of roles. They asked me what I thought about recruitment and at the time I wasn’t totally sure. So, I came in for a couple of days to see if I like it and the rest is history!

Jack Bowers, Corporate Services: The people. Everyone I spoke to seemed genuine, and I could tell they also had that drive to succeed as a collective!

Ray Williamson, Exec Search & Selection: My introduction to a life in recruitment started at NRG some 25 years ago. They are great people with values very much aligned to my own. Working for a company that is passionate about making a difference and helping people in the sectors it supports is fantastic and I am very proud to be a part of that.

Jack Salkeld, Tech & Digital: I knew the previous financial director and he assured me that NRG was the best recruitment company around. I trusted his advice and he wasn’t wrong.

Ollie Jobling, Tech & Digital: NRG offered a lot of exposure and development opportunities which you don’t always get with internal recruitment and this has helped me grow within the business and progress my career.

Scot McHarg, Exec Search & Selection: NRG welcomed me into their team directly from an accountancy career – they provide time to learn but encouraged high standards and performance, celebrating success and the financial rewards any new consultant can develop through initiative and hard work!

Sarah Minto, Tech & Digital: It’s a recognised and trusted brand with a lot of experience.

Dione Allen, Tech & Digital: The company values of resilience, inclusivity, integrity, spirited and expertise really resonated with me.

For now, our Q&A series is ongoing as we find out more about our newest team members.
