Payroll Officer

About the role

 We have an exciting opportunity to join an established national public sector firm providing an excellent payroll service to over 100,000 employees. This role provides a great opportunity to grow internally and further your progression in a payroll career.

As Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for responsible for processing payments for approximately 1300 employees – both weekly and monthly cycles.

This role has a salary between £25,000 and £28,000 involving hybrid working.

 The role:

  • Responsible for all salaries, wages, personal expenses, and pension administration processing for a section of staff in accordance with procedures, financial timescales and legal requirements.

  • Operating the computer based payrolling system.

  • Maintaining all documentation and records pertaining to the section.

  • Investigating and answering queries both written and verbal.

 What you need:

  • 5 GCE O Levels, including English and

    Mathematics or NVQ level 2 equivalent. NVQ Level 4/ AAT/ Foundation Qualification in Payroll & Pensions or equivalent experience.

  • Significant experience working in a payroll environment.

  • Detailed knowledge of payroll procedures, processes & legislation.

  • Detailed knowledge of Computerised Payroll System.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Written, oral communication, organisational skills.

  • Arithmetic and

    keyboard skills.

  • Positive attitude, team worker, sympathetic and patient
