Claims Handler-Claims Settlement

About the role

We are working with a well-known insurance company based in Newcastle who are looking for claims handlers to join their customer settlement team on a permanent basis. With a starting salary of £23,500 up to £26,000 depending on experience.

This role will be Monday to Friday working 36 hours per week, hybrid working available.

You will be required to support customers through their claims journey from notification to settlement. Therefore, we are looking for people capable of demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills who can proactively manage and settle a portfolio of motor insurance claims. This involves developing and maintaining a range of internal and external relationships with colleagues, customers and third-party representatives such as insurers, accident management centres, solicitors, credit hire companies and suppliers.

About the role

  • Carry out a range of customer service activities, including handling customer cases and enquiries that are more complex or outside the norm

  • Review and analyse assigned insurance claims in line with the organization's standard claims procedures and customer service standards

  • Engage loss adjusters and/or subject-matter experts where appropriate, authorize claims within delegated authority, and refer complex or unresolved issues to senior colleagues

  • Evaluate insurance claims by Interviewing and/or visit claimants to evaluate the extent of liability and the value of insured losses in line with policy coverage. Adjust losses and negotiate settlement within delegated authority limits, referring complex or disputed claims to senior colleagues for resolution

  • Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional enquiries. Involves following procedures and precedents

Skills/Experience

  • Claims Handling/ Claims Settlement/ Insurance experience – ideally you will come from this background

  • Planning and organising, you can work without supervision - Experience of dealing with your own workload

  • Good level of verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
