Barrister's Clerk

About the role

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Clerking Assistant, working for one of the North’s most prestigious chambers in Newcastle.

Working within a team of clerks, you will have responsibility for day-to-day admin duties, providing a high level of support to the wider team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Barrister’s Clerk, or administrator to join a thriving business.

About the role:

  • Answer phone calls and direct to the correct party, liaising with clients on a regular basis.

  • Manage shared inbox.

  • Scan and file correspondence

  • Diary management and liaise with court.

  • Create and update case records.

  • Arrange meetings in person, via telephone or video link.

  • Any other duties as required by counsel.

About you:

  • Strong communicator, with a high level of emotional intelligence, and able to deal with sensitive matters with a high degree of emotional intelligence.

  • Work well under pressure, and to tight deadlines

  • Work effectively as part of a team, and willing to go above and beyond when required.

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Good eye for process improvement
