By combining local knowledge with group-wide expertise, we ensure consistent, high-quality support across all aspects of SME insurance. Our Maidstone team are a well-established division of Clear Insurance Management, providing a friendly, supportive and engaging work environment for not only our SME department but our Commercial and Construction department too. Our clients are as varied as it gets, from one-person start-ups to established firms with multiple sites and fleets. Every day brings something new, keeping the role dynamic and rewarding.

Position Profile

As an SME Account Handler at Clear Group, you will play a key role in delivering excellent service to small and medium-sized enterprise clients. You will manage a high volume of policies across a broad range of package and commercial combined products, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in every interaction. Working closely with colleagues, you will support the smooth delivery of insurance solutions, while fostering positive client relationships and helping drive retention.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management

  • Respond promptly and professionally to client queries, providing clear and supportive guidance.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding and responding to their insurance needs.

  • Assist with renewals and adjustments to ensure continuity and accuracy of cover.

  • Deliver a consistent, customer-first approach across all client interactions.

Policy Administration

  • Accurately process new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations, often through e-trade platforms or delegated authority schemes.

  • Review and check policy documentation for accuracy, resolving any discrepancies quickly.

  • Maintain up-to-date, compliant, and accurate client records within the relevant systems.

Insurer Liaison

  • Work with insurers to obtain quotes and terms, mainly via insurer platforms and schemes.

  • Escalate non-standard or complex requirements to senior handlers or line manager where needed.

  • Ensure policies are placed efficiently and within agreed service standards.

Compliance and Regulation

  • Ensure all activities comply with FCA regulations and internal compliance standards.

  • Keep up to date with regulatory requirements and changes that impact SME products and clients.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Work closely with colleagues and line manager to deliver seamless client service.

  • Share knowledge and best practices to support team development.

  • Provide support to less experienced colleagues as appropriate.

Candidate Profile

Attributes, Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in Personal Lines, SME, or junior commercial account handling

  • Knowledge of SME and package/commercial combined insurance products.

  • Proficiency in using insurer e-trade platforms and client management systems.

  • Strong understanding of compliance responsibilities, including FCA regulations and Consumer Duty.

  • Ability to handle high volumes of work with accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Progress towards Cert CII or other relevant insurance qualifications.

  • Experience using Acturis or similar insurance systems.

  • Exposure to SME client servicing or micro-commercial account handling.
