Account Director Collingdale
Key Responsibilities:
Client Acquisition and Retention
Service and administer a portfolio of commercial and property insurance clients in a timely, professional, and compliant manner. Analyse clients’ insurance needs and recommend suitable coverage options, liaising with the wider team where required.
Ensure the Demands & Needs (DNA) process is followed for all clients, with particular focus on increasing penetration in areas currently below company average, such as D&O and Cyber.
Build and maintain strong client relationships by attending meetings, understanding demands and needs, and providing informed advice on a wide range of coverages. Ensure a clear plan exists for all clients, including face-to-face meetings where possible, including face-to-face meetings where possible.
Identify opportunities for recommendations and referrals from existing clients, providing comprehensive protection solutions through appropriate products and services.
Placement
Take responsibility for local placement relationships, including arranging meetings, supporting insurer training for staff, and maintaining up-to-date contact lists.
Attend internal placement meetings as required, contributing insight and updates.
Policy Management
Evaluate insurance policies to ensure they meet clients’ requirements.
Assist clients in understanding policy terms, conditions, and coverage.
Process policy renewals, endorsements, and cancellations efficiently.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records on the company electronic filing system.
Risk Assessment and Compliance
Conduct risk assessments for clients and provide recommendations for coverage or mitigation.
Ensure your team adheres to regulatory and company standards, including FCA, GDPR, and internal policies.
Support continuous improvement of team processes, systems, and client service delivery.
Customer Service
Address client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers, ensuring timely resolution of issues and claims.
Establish and manage strategic partner relationships and foster strong connections with potential clients, influencers, and suppliers.
People Management and Development
Team Leadership & Performance Management: Conduct regular 1:1s, appraisals, and performance reviews. Set clear objectives and monitor progress to ensure the team meets client and business expectations.
Talent Development & Coaching: Support and develop team members to enhance skills, engagement, and career progression. Provide constructive feedback, mentoring, and learning opportunities.
Workload & Resource Management: Allocate work effectively across the team, ensuring efficiency, fairness, and alignment with client priorities. Monitor pre-renewals, renewals, and ongoing client requirements.
Engagement & Wellbeing: Promote a positive team culture, recognising achievements, encouraging collaboration, and maintaining morale. Conduct regular wellbeing check-ins, particularly during periods of change.
Conflict & Issue Resolution: Address performance or interpersonal issues promptly, transparently, and professionally, escalating where necessary.
Training & Development Planning: Identify skills gaps and training needs, implementing solutions to upskill the team and improve capability. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Essential:
Experience in a similar Account Executive or Account Director role within commercial and/or property insurance
Demonstrable experience retaining and growing an existing portfolio of clients, alongside identifying, generating, and converting new business opportunities
Experience dealing directly with insurance markets, including working with insurers and placement teams to secure appropriate cover
Proactive line management experience, including regular 1:1s, performance management, and ownership of personal development plans
Strong understanding of compliance responsibilities, including FCA requirements and Consumer Duty
Good technical knowledge of insurance products, with the ability to present confidently to clients or internal audiences on insurance-related topics when required (with appropriate training and support)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
Ability to work efficiently under pressure, with excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills
Confident in the use of relevant systems and software for client management, documentation, and analysis
An innovative and creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to demonstrate how this has supported client retention or business development
Desirable:
Professional insurance qualification, such as ACII, or working towards
Experience within Commercial General and/or Real Estate insurance
Exposure to team or business change, including supporting colleagues through transition
