Facilities Operations Engineer

About the role

We are working with a well-known MSP that are based in Manchester and are looking to recruit for a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to help manage and maintain all electrical and mechanical systems across the site of the Data Centre. You will be expected to provide supervision of contractors to ensure all Health and Safety regulations are met as well as complete projects within a team or independently. As well as this you will be expected to provide input to reports/audits for these as required from the management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make sure Health & Safety regulations align with the companies standards and that a duty of care is maintained to everyone on site in the data centre.

  • Providing support and communicating effectively with clients internally and externally to exceed expectations.

  • Ensure that records databases are kept up to date and completed in a timely manner while ensuring the companies processes and procedures are adhered to

  • Ensure that incident management escalations process is followed thoroughly and SLAs from ticket escalations are logged correctly and completed in a professional and timely manner.

  • Ensure all PPM activities are carried out in the data centre in a timely manner and align with company standards.

  • Follow and adhere to company procedures on a daily basis providing support for all activities on site and to 3rd parties, ensuring site security and integrity is maintained at all times.

  • Assist with rack installations and cabling to obtain maximum cooling efficiencies from the deployment.

  • Stock control of company related assets and store management as well as maintaining critical spares for the Data Centre.

  • Perform system monitoring, environment monitoring, remote / smart hands activities on behalf of customers, 3rd parties and other company technical teams when required.

  • Involvement with regards to testing and handover, and knowledge and understanding of any new infrastructure or hardware / software installed monitoring the facility.

Experience Required for the role:

  • Maintenance and electrical experience, preferably in the IT sector and Data Centre environment.

  • Experience in at least 3 of the following:

    • L.V Switching

    • HVAC Systems

    • UPS Circuitry

    • Generators

    • BMS Systems

    • Fire Preventive Systems
