About the role

We are currently working with a company looking for a Data Scientist to join their team in Newcastle with the opportunity for hybrid working.

The role:

As an early team member, you'll be instrumental in shaping our credit risk models and data strategy. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing alternative data credit default models and scorecards.

• Leading exploratory approaches to credit modelling and continuous improvement.

• Ensuring robust testing and regulatory compliance for our models.

• Collaborating with founders on data strategy and stakeholder management.

• Supporting future fundraising efforts.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in consumer lending or credit risk (fintech experience is a plus).

• Proven track record in building consumer credit risk scorecards.

• Experience with Open Banking data.

• Proficient in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and time-series data analysis.

• Full ML lifecycle experience: design, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.

• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
