Our client, a historic estate based in Durham, is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the smooth and efficient operation of their financial function. About the Role:
As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll play a key role in day-to-day financial operations across multiple entities. From bookkeeping and reconciliations to supporting VAT returns and year-end accounts, this is a hands-on and varied position ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
Please note: Due to the rural location, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Processing invoices across various estate-related entities
Maintaining weekly and monthly bookkeeping records
Reconciling bank accounts and inter-entity balances
Assisting with VAT returns and Partial Exemption calculations
Supporting the preparation of management and year-end accounts
Involvement in credit control, including debtor and creditor analysis
Providing general financial and administrative support to the Financial Controller
What We're Looking For:
Qualified AAT or part-qualified ACA/ACCA with relevant experience
Strong experience in accounts preparation and reconciliations
Familiarity with Xero, AutoEntry, and strong proficiency in Excel (preferred)
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Clear and confident communicator with a collaborative mindset
Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively
