About the role
Impact Family Services
Board Member / Trustee
The future is very exciting for Impact Family Services and we are looking to enhance our board of trustees by recruiting a number of new trustees who are committed to helping to shape our stagey and drive our future growth.
Covid-19 has had a pressure cooker effect on many households where abuse was already present, through children not being at school, lack of personal space, extra financial and other pressures. Addressing need around domestic violence in our community is critical to the safety and wellbeing of those affected, to safeguard their physical and mental health and give children a chance to enjoy positive relationships with family members enabling them to thrive.
Impact Family Services have been successfully supporting families for over 25 years and has an enviable reputation for our work. The last year has been one of challenge and celebration. The departure of our former CEO in December 2021 was a pivotal moment, in which the charity faced some serious challenges as well as nervousness concerning the future of the organisation.
The trustees acted swiftly and recruited a highly experienced interim CEO, and over the last 12 months, the charity has experienced a significant turn-around, both in financial stability and the desire and confidence to look to future growth and development.
The charity has an experienced and dedicated staff team, whose knowledge, understanding and expertise saves lives and positively changes family relationships.
The Charity would therefore now welcome the applications from candidates with the following characteristics:-
Strong track record as a senior executive or business owner
Highly respected in their field
Excellent cross-sector networking and able to bring good connections to the charity
Visionary, strategic thinker with strong leadership skills
A keen interest in supporting young people to achieve their potential
In addition the following would be desirable but not essential:-
Experience as a Chair / Board Member / Trustee
Specific skills in the areas of Law, Marketing / PR, HR
The Board holds meetings every 8 weeks, for up to 2 hours - the time commitment between calls and meetings is likely to average 0.5 days a month. This post is non-remunerated, but expenses may be covered.
