The Project is dedicated to the regeneration, conservation, and celebration of the stories and heritage of the former home of the Prince Bishops of Durham. For the past ten years, its regeneration charity has sought to create sustainable, commercial opportunities that will drive investment into Bishop Auckland and the surrounding County Durham area.
With over 35 pipeline projects underway the inspirational team have already successfully run a number of world class attractions including:- Auckland Castle, Mining Art Gallery, Binchester Roman Fort, the Weardale Railway, the newly opened Spanish Gallery and a Faith Museum – the first of its kind to contemplate the history of faith in Britain and what it means in the present day.
As the Head of Health and Safety, the purpose of your role is to ensure the health and safety of staff, visitors and volunteers through the application of best practices, related culture, and behaviour. You will be a professional expert in all matters concerning health and safety, and will be accountable for developing and overseeing the health and safety strategy. You’ll ensure appropriate standards and policies are consistently applied, and will advise the Executive Board, Senior Management, the Health and Safety Committee and Charity as appropriate.
To provide an advisory and expert service to line management so they can adequately discharge their responsibilities for the safe delivery of activities within their areas.
To develop and agree the health and safety strategy, and associated management responsibilities.
Lead, review, and ensure a best practice Business Continuity Management programme (BCMP), which identifies and underpins the key dependencies that support high priority organisational activities. This will ensure the recovery and continuity of activities are within timescales that do not expose the organisation to an unacceptable level of operational, financial, regulatory or reputational risk.
Perform Health & Safety risk analyses for functions to identify points of vulnerability, single points of failure and build risk avoidance and mitigation strategies across the organisation.
Work collaboratively with Board, COO , CEO, and Heads of Professional Service areas, and stakeholders that impact on health and safety and emergency planning arrangements.
