One of the UK's leading independent providers of discretionary wealth management is looking for a Risk Associate to join the team.

This is a brand-new role created due to company success and expansion.

The ideal candidate will assist with the management of risks and controls within Operations, analysing trends to identify issues.

Experience of risk and control management in a complex environment is highly beneficial, along with the ability to problem-solve and communicate effectively.

  • Assist with the management of risks and controls within Operations, across locations, analysing trends to identify potential or actual issues

  • Undertake structured assurance and effectiveness assessments, risk evaluations and testing of the Operations Risk and Control environment across Operations

  • Support and advise the Risk Partner to set and assess risk appetite for all Operations risk types

  • When requested take responsibility as the First Line of Defence for the management of risks and act as the point of escalation for any risks and issue beyond tolerance

  • Support the development of Operations’ risk and control reporting framework and continually review its effectiveness

  • Attend regular Risk and Control review meetings

  • Support the management of risks and controls required for key business change initiatives, undertaken by Operations

  • Undertake risk and control investigations, as required

  • Collaborate with Senior Operations Management to ensure the delivery of the Operations’ Strategy and BD Group strategy, as required

  • Ensure operational activity is executed to deliver excellence in client service, ensuring clients are at the heart of how we operate

  • Assist with initiatives to continually improve Risk and Control activity across Operations

  • Assist the Risk Partner to ensure risks within your team are identified and managed in accordance with Operations and Group Risk and Control frameworks (Three Lines of Defence) and all related governance activity

  • Support the Senior Operations Manager in maintaining effective working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders

  • Assist your Senior Operations Manager to create a culture of Risk and Control focussed Operations across the function.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience of Risk and Control management in a complex and highly regulated environment

  • Adaptable to change

  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise when required

  • Ability to coach and develop others

  • Experience of supporting and developing internal and external stakeholder relationships

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Understanding of the Financial Services sector is preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt style and message to suit the audience

  • A goal-orientated and motivated self-starter with a strong focus on excellence in client service

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to use information to generate creative solutions

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
