As part of our journey, South Tyneside Homes, which has over 16,000 homes across the region, has a rare opportunity for a talented and experienced Independent Board Member to join their team.
You will join the organisation at an exciting time as they are in the planning stages of their corporate plan, taking them on their next journey beyond 2022. This is all happening at a time when our world has changed following the Covid-19 outbreak; transforming how we are delivering our business and services to our customers which will be integral to the corporate plan review.

We’re looking for ambitious and committed people who can join South Tyneside Homes on the next chapter; people who share our passion and dedication to making South Tyneside the place to be, with the skills to drive forward our fantastic organisation. Following retirement of the previous Board Member, we have a vacancy for an Independent Board Member to join their highly committed team.
The Board delivers STH’s strategic direction in line with their mission and vision, and as a member, you will be expected to commit the time and energy to fulfil the responsibility as an STH board member. We are particularly looking for someone with skills in strategic financial and treasury management, including the ability to understand, analyse and interpret complex financial and commercial information. A formal accounting qualification is also desirable. Ideally we would like to recruit someone who understands the challenges faced by the residents and communities of South Tyneside.
You will have expertise in debt finance, experience of working at a strategic level, and the gravitas required to develop strong working relationships, lead on audit and internal controls, and become the Chair of the Audit Committee. It is considered vital that the Board reflects the communities we serve and would welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds

Term: Initially three years and resign in rotation in accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association for a second and third term to a maximum term of nine years
