An established organisation that supports an NHS Trust in all hard and soft facility services, procurement services and outpatient pharmacy dispensing services is looking for an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to join their team.




Day-to-day (brief):



  • Active role in development of procedures for monthly reporting, budgetary control and business case production to ensure continuous improvement

  • Working within relevant financial governance framework (Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions, Scheme of Delegation, and Financial Procedure Notes) and advises Business Units on compliance with the framework

  • Lead on corporate financial duties as required by the Chief Finance Officer.

  • Liaises with other staff in the Financial Management to ensure production of timely, accurate and reliable financial information on a monthly basis

  • Ensures compliance, either by staff within team, with all delegated responsibilities in respect of the monthly closedown timetable including:-

    • Review of routine/standard journals in respect of accruals, prepayments, recharges and other adjustments for areas of responsibility

    • Final review of draft reports

    • Production of reliable forecasts in agreement with appropriate budget-holders

  • Undertakes detailed financial analyses to support understanding of key variances from plan, including use of non-financial information such as key performance indicators, trend analysis and benchmarking.

  • Reviews CIP proposals from the business units to establish feasibility and timescales of delivery, identify cash releasing and non-cash releasing efficiencies, and any impacts on other services.

  • Provides senior finance support for production of business cases within the company, ensuring that these are produced in accordance with company policies and that appropriate investment/economic appraisal techniques are used to evaluate options.

  • To lead in the preparation of the annual accounts and report for the company, ensuring all supporting working papers are in line with recognised financial reporting standards and the timetable.

  • Plays an active role in the development and training of staff within the finance department and those staff (Corporate and Financial Services) provided under SLA, to ensure quality of service, maintain high morale and assist in succession planning





  • Qualified accountant with 5 years post qualification experience

  • Experience in a similar role within a large/complex organisation
