We are recruiting a Head of Finance Business Partnering on behalf of a pivotal organisation that supports the Department of Health in resolving clinical and non-clinical claims. You will lead a team of 4 and report into the Deputy Director of Finance.

As a business partner, this role has lead responsibility for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, providing support, advice and challenge to budget managers in the organisation. The post holder will also provide support to project managers on the development of business cases for investment, for product development and pricing approaches.




  • Advises senior managers on financial management in the context of the financial position of the organisation and wider Group, including the development of financial plans and forecasts, and making recommendations for business efficiencies and performance improvements.

  • Works with senior managers to develop financial strategies for investments in change programmes/projects and on development of commercial products/income generation strategies, ensuring that these are compliant with financial management frameworks for the public sector.

  • Develops plans for the timely delivery of quality financial information, ensuring that this supports the operational management of the organisation and provides insight for strategic thinking.

  • Develops efficient and effective systems and business processes for routine activities, e.g. monthly reporting and forecasting, annual budgeting cycle.

  • Creates projects and long term plans for management accounts which will impact on the whole organisation.

  • Responsible for developing policy areas within management accounts that will impact on the whole organisation.

  • Provides explanations and commentary for the monthly financial management reporting process, and is able to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Has knowledge and experience in a wide range of accountancy techniques and approaches to monthly accruals accounts, investment appraisals and pricing decisions, applying them appropriately to the situation in hand.

  • Responsible for designing and developing IT systems that will develop information across the organisation and meet the needs of others.

  • Working autonomously is guided by organisational and national policies and regulations which the postholder will have to interpret on behalf of the organisation.

  • Responsible for managing a team of 4 staff for the delivery of management accounting and business partnering services.



  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA or similar qualification

  • Experience in a similar role

  • Experience of managing, leading and motivating staff
