Our client is looking for a Mechanical Research Engineer to provide mechanical design engineering knowledge and expertise on offshore renewables, wave, tidal and floating wind platforms, moorings, and anchoring.
The successful candidate will have a good engineering project-orientated background, be able to work within a collaborative team and be able to confidently represent technical topics with credibility and ease to a variety of audiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking engineering research and design development working within mixed teams comprising academic partners and industry. The role will require the presentation of engineering ideas, designs and concepts to a variety of stakeholders to define project progress, support new concepts and funding proposals.
What do I need to qualify for this role?
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a relevant engineering discipline
Educated to at least degree level in a relevant discipline
Experience in the use / application of one or more of the following engineering software:
CAD – Solid Edge
Finite Element Analysis – ANSYS APDL, ANSYS Mechanical
Numerical Analysis – MATLAB, MathCAD, Python
Computational Fluid Dynamics – ANSYS, FLUENT
Turbine Simulation – BLADED, FAST
Hydrodynamic Simulation – ANSYS AQWA, ORCAFLEX, Hydro D
Deep C (moorings analysis)
GeniE, SACS, Flexcom, Occaflex (design of semisub platforms)
Proven experience in the successful leadership and delivery of simultaneous technical engineering projects
Motivated and strong team player – working individually, within and across multi-functional project teams
