Our client is recruiting for a Test Engineer to join them on a 12 month fixed term contract . The role is to be based within their Test & Validation directorate reporting into the Drivetrain Test Manager .


The role is based in Blyth and will be supporting the Test Engineer in executing complex test plans across their assets based in Drivetrains. Our clients Drivetrain assets include testing for Prototypes, Tidal, Wind Turbines and Bearings.


Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for ensuring the setup of test pieces and supporting equipment/systems within the facility and on site, are to the required standards;

  • Responsible for the application of the test process to a given test and project plan to meet customer expectations;

  • Responsible for the creation of technical test reports to client’s satisfaction, in particular collation and presentation of electronic data;

  • Propose and support improvements, future development and efficiencies within the test facility and test process;

  • Support the maintenance Team to ensure the test equipment QHSE requirements and standards prior and during the test process;

  • Support the development and implementation of in-house procedures and documentation as necessary;

  • Assist the QA manager in obtaining and retaining quality standards as applicable;

  • Undertake any other duties of which the responsibly, experience and skills required fall within the post holder’s expected capability and are commensurate with the post holders position in the company. Authority & Decisions


Knowledge & Skills Set


  • Relevant experience of testing, qualifications or equivalent in a suitable engineering discipline;

  • Extensive experience principally in the areas of either electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic/structural loadings, instrumentation/data collection and control systems;

  • Highly computer literate – ability to use Microsoft packages

  • Ability to deal with customer expectations and aspirations on test delivery:

  • Good oral and written communication skills – must be capable of writing detailed technical reports;

  • Good data analysis skills;

  • Good team player;

  • Good communication and time management skills;

  • Use initiative and judgement to analyse and make decisions to solve technical and/or engineering problems as they arise; • Good presentation skills;

  • Capable of working within tight timescales and budgets;
