About the role


A newly created position of Procurement Manager – Sourcing & Projects that will bring leadership and commercial drive to the sourcing team (category management) empowering, coaching and developing a high performing culture.


Leading and supporting the development of innovative and commercially focused sourcing strategies for complex projects this role will test current ways of working and specifications to deliver best value, along with owning the procurement plan prioritising high impact projects, while driving improvements in procurement practices.




  • Management and development of the procurement sourcing / category management team’s capacity and delivery


  • Bring commercial rigor, challenge and acumen to all sourcing activity ensuring all available levers are utilised to drive best value


  • Support business review and approval processes for contract awards and procurement strategies


  • Building deep and trusting relationships with key stakeholders, engage and influence decision making at senior levels


  • Support the Head of Procurement with specific projects and activities to increase the value add and positive impact of the procurement function


  • Provide subject matter expertise and mentoring to the wider procurement team



About you


The successful candidate will be MCIPS qualified with a business related degree and have proven and significant leadership and mentoring experience in sourcing and commercial negotiation, along with the proven detailed knowledge of best practice procurement techniques, strategic sourcing processes and supplier management values across multiple sectors and industries.


Proven experience in bringing continuous improvement / innovation to the procurement function, along with the proven experience of excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at a senior (Board) level and leadership skills with experience managing and coaching a team is essential.
