Our international manufacturing client based in Wallsend is looking for an Operational Buyer to join them on a permanent basis.

Job Role

  • The role of the Operational Buyer is to support , manage and co-ordinate administrative duties in an efficient and effective manner to ensure continuous operations, maximum value for money

  • Validates Purchase Requisitions (completion & correctness), coordinates with Procurement Manager

  • Creates Purchase orders & follows up on entire PO process and contracts

  • Monitors own and department KPI’s, escalating where required

  • Executes low value spot buy orders as defined in category strategy

  • Inputs contract data in SAP

  • Provides/cleans data (KPI reports, saving, PPE, category spend data) and performs selected analysis

  • Monitors compliance to procurement guidelines and processes

  • Creates and maintain Material and Vendor master data management

Skills/Experience

  • Previous Procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Organised, self-starting, responsible and flexible

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet demanding and changing deadlines through effective prioritisation

  • Experience in the use of ERP systems, preferably SAP
