Location: North East

Salary: Competitive Salary & Benefits

Job Type:

Job ID: 168510

Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust are now seeking to appoint a highly ambitious, highly effective Managing Director to drive activity and continued growth within its wholly owned and very successful subsidiary, QE Facilities Ltd.  With annual turnover over £250 million and a workforce of around 4,000 staff Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust delivers care in community settings as well as from our state-of-the-art care facilities. We are proud to be rated as ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ care by the Care Quality Commission.

Alongside providing a comprehensive range of Acute Hospital, Mental Health and Community Services for approximately 200,000 patients, the Trust provides a range of specialist Gynae-oncology and Screening Services across the North of England. In addition, we are also expanding our base of Pathology and Commercial Estates & Facilities Services. The latter of these is delivered nationally via QE Facilities Ltd.

Established in 2014, QE Facilities Ltd employs over 700 staff and provides an expansive range of demand led services across estates, facilities, procurement, supply chain management, equipment maintenance, transport services and aspects of advice & consultancy to NHS Trusts and other bodies. Operating along commercial lines, the subsidiary has access to the trading benefits of a private company, whilst importantly possessing the ethos, culture & values of a traditional patient led, in-house service.   Crucially, all of the financial benefits arising from the subsidiary’s activities are returned to Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust to continually enhance patient services.

You will already be operating at, or close to, board level, with a strong track record of maximising performance improvement, service enhancement whilst encouraging a sense of unity and a ‘one team’ ethos. The successful candidate will be highly visible, inspiring others with an ability to encourage and motivate teams towards identifying and delivering innovative partnerships and solutions. You will be resilient; outcome focused and bring enthusiasm & rigour to internal & external challenges in order to effectively meet the needs of the communities we serve.

This is a challenging but exciting role that provides a real opportunity to be at the forefront of change within a highly progressive NHS service provider.  Successful candidates will clearly demonstrate a strong motivation towards enhancing health & care services, the highest standards of personal integrity alongside an ambitious and ‘commercial growth’ mindset. It will be vital therefore for all candidates to also demonstrate a clear understanding and alignment to the core values of the Trust and its desire to improve all patient focused activities.
