Operations Manager

Our international manufacturing client is looking for an Operations Manager to join them on a permanent basis at their site in Washington.

Job Role

To effectively lead and manage the day to day performance of the Business Unit plant operations in the UK (North East), taking full responsibility for operating profit, performance targets including but not limited to Safety, Cost, Delivery and Quality objectives.

• To be part of the senior leadership team and contribute to the delivery of the overall business strategy and objectives

• To manage the plant budget and service agreements, developing business plans to ensure financial targets are achieved or exceeded

• To continuously lead and drive change and improvement initiatives across the plant using lean manufacturing techniques. (e.g. VSM, Kaizen)

• Contribute to the 3-year strategic plan for the operation and drive the implementation

Skills/Experience

• Experience of high volume manufacturing

• Manufacturing Engineering (including M&I flow, Standard Operations, plant layout, waste elimination, continuous improvement, engineering change control)

• Strong experience of supply chain management (including expediting, lead-time reduction, inventory management, packaging and shipping)

• Demonstrate Lean Manufacturing experience in a high volume environment

• Broad engineering skills, able to balance decision making, applying sound business judgement

• Report writing and presentation skills
