The Role

The main role of the Member is to oversee capital investment by the Group in accordance with the Committees’ objectives including the implementation of the approved development and asset management strategies. In addition, the Committee monitors and reviews compliance with the landlord’s property, statutory, health and safety requirements.

Members of the Committee approve specific development schemes, and major works programmes and contracts within the parameters set by the Group Board.

A Committee Member should be ready to challenge information that is presented to them in a constructive and meaningful way, seeking to ensure the best resolution for Bernicia.

The full responsibilities of Committee Members of the Bernicia Group are set out in their signed Agreement For Services relevant to the post. Members are expected to be aware of the requirements of the Code of Governance adopted by Bernicia, promote Bernicia’s vision and values, and adhere to its Code of Conduct (Standards of Behaviour).

The Person

If you have substantial senior management and preferably board level experience, gained within a large and complex organisation, they can offer an exceptional opportunity to use your talents to make a positive difference to the lives of people in your community. 

You will share their values and have the ability to focus on strategy.  You will also have the credibility to constructively challenge and work collaboratively with the Board at Bernicia, to help develop and deliver their strategic plans. 

Senior Leadership Experience and a successful track record in property development, planning, asset management or related discipline will be essential to be successful in this role along with an understanding and appreciation of the landlord’s health and safety obligations.

You will have the ability to analyse, evaluate and prioritise competing investment options along with a keen willingness to learn.

Experience of joint ventures in property development or asset management and

developing and implementing strategic approaches to development/asset management would be both desirable and beneficial.
