Our client a renewable energy engineering company based in Blyth is looking for a Calibration Engineer to join them on a fixed term basis.

Job Role

  • As a member of the Validation Team, you will ensure that development and delivery of commercial test programmes are underpinned by robust, expert and sustainable engineering processes, fully documented procedures and capability

  • Your specific focus will be to streamline and enhance the calibration processes within the business

  • This will include reviewing the technical calibration requirements of conventional and bespoke items, including calibration schedules, and the review of internal and external providers with the aim of establishing a comprehensive calibration management system

  • Accountable for the development of internal calibration capabilities, and the definition of interfaces with external providers

  • Accountable for the auditable recording of calibration data in a simple and accessible manner

  • Establishing a robust and streamlined system for tracking calibrated items

  • Use your mathematical and analytical skills to generate simple to understand metrics for users of the calibrated instruments

  • Develop the application of the calibration process for a given asset to meet customer expectations, internal processes and standards

  • Ensure data records relating to simulation and test activities are maintained in accordance with processes and procedures


  • Educated to at least degree level in a relevant discipline

  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills

  • Understanding of statistical probability and its application in engineering

  • Ability to disseminate knowledge to staff of all engineering disciplines and experience

  • Knowledge of and the application of good practice engineering design procedures and tools

  • Excellent IT skills with knowledge of numerical data processing packages such as Excel, Diadem, R, SQL, and MATLAB would be preferable

  • Experience of calibration and certification requirements and processes
