Level 2 Service Engineer

NRG are delighted to be working with a truly revolutionary, rapid growth high-tech financial services provider based on the outskirts of Newcastle. Due to growth and expansion they are looking to recruit 2 Level Two Service Engineers

Working within the IT Service Desk team, supported by an external IT service provider, your main duties and responsibilities will include:

On Site Server Support (Wndows 2012 - 2016) dealing with the following:

  • Active Directory

  • Exchange

  • Permissions

  • Group Policy

  • Managing and maintaining the servers (with third party support) – Windows Virtual Servers (VMWARE)

  • Verba Call Recording

  • Cisco Firesight

  • Powershell

  • System Monitoring


Azure Cloud Support (PAAS and IAAS) dealing with the following: (not essential as training provided)

  • Azure Portal

  • Storage Accounts and Security

  • Azure Active Directory


Assisting Level 1 Engineers in the following when required:


User Support (Windows 10, MAC IOS) :

  • Supporting meeting room users and Head Office staff at all levels, ranging from adding printers to resolving software, hardware and wireless/network connectivity issues

  • Building custom spec PCs for the Development Team and providing hardware support where needed, assisting with fault-finding and ordering / fitting replacement parts and upgrades

  • Preparing and rebuilding PCs and laptops for use by staff as required

  • Liaising with third party on patching of network ports and switches

  • Managing remote user VPN access

  • Managing and assigning IP addresses for other fixed-IP devices (Printers, Projectors, security cameras etc.)


Telephony Support (Skype for Business)

  • Creating user accounts

  • Creating and managing hunt and call groups within Skype for Business

  • Managing IVR / call menus and greetings

  • Changing team availability / opening hours

  • Liaising with telecoms providers when needed

  • Managing the Verba Call Recording system

Other tasks

  • Remote support to staff on other sites including occasional site visits if needed

  • Assisting with office moves


Experience / Qualifications

  • IT support experience in a similar role

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business

  • Strong team-worker able to support junior team members as required

  • Willing and able to expand and develop wide skills and knowledge

  • Flexible approach and enthusiastic attitude

  • Committed and self-motivated

  • On Site Server Support experience is essential and an understanding of Azure would be a benefit however training would be supplied.


Salary : 20,000 – 25,000 based on experience
