Front End Web Developer

Location: Newcastle

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 depednant on experience

NRG are delighted to be working on behalf of a reputable e-commerce retailer to recruit a Front-End Developer.


You will be responsible for developing, managing and optimising the Business to Consumer platform to help create a fantastic customer experience. You will also work closely with the e-commerce team and act as the key liaison for an external web development agency.


Previous experience working with Shopify e-commerce platform is preferred but not essential.



  • Technical ownership of front-end development and website updates.

  • Responsibility for Quality Assurance processes.

  • Ensure that front-end site developments are completed efficiently and within pre-determined KPIs

  • Gain insights from analytics and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Working closely with the website platform agency, develop and create innovative solutions that continuously improve the performance of the website.

  • Maintain a good understanding of SEO principles and ensure that the application will adhere to them.

  • Ownership of data management from other areas of the business

  • Working closely with and supervising 3rd party development agency


Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Shopify or similar E-commerce platforms

  • At least 1 year’s experience using HTML, CSS & SASS and JavaScript & JQuery.

  • Strong understanding of front-end coding techniques and CMS.

  • Strong understanding of scaffolding tools such as Webpack or GULP.

  • A mobile-first approach.

  • Experience working with JSON models

  • Strong knowledge of GIT version control

  • BitBucket & JIRA Atlassian Product knowledge

  • Experience of working in Scrum

  • Strong investigation skills and Bug fixing concepts

  • Understanding of integrating external API’s, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

  • Have a good knowledge of best practices, new technologies and trends.

  • Knowledge of UX and UI design.

  • A self-starter who thrives in a result driven, creative environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with an accurate eye for detail.
