We are currently looking for an ambitious Accounts Assistant who is seeking a challenging new role.


Our client is a family owned construction company in Newcastle with significant growth plans and a passion for continuous improvement. They are on the look out for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.


The ideal candidate for this role will be AAT qualified, or working towards this, with a view to progressing to complete the CIMA qualification. You will have a high level of drive, excellent attention to detail and a desire to learn.


Joining a busy and close knit team of 5 and reporting to the Finance Manager, main duties will include:



  • Post payments and direct debits to ledgers

  • Bank statement reconciliations

  • Control of petty cash

  • Inputting data for weekly sales reports

  • Keeping track of fixed assets

  • Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Accruals & Prepayments

  • Assist in the preparation of month end and year end accounts



Your CV must display the following criteria in order for your application to be considered:


  • Experience of managing bank postings and reconciliations

  • Experience of double entry book keeping

  • Experience of working to deadlines and managing changing priorities

  • IT literate, specifically Excel and experience of working with accounting software packages

  • AAT qualified or working towards



The successful candidate will receive a high level of support that will enable progression and development with regular performance reviews to ensure you're on the right track. You will receive a starting salary of £20,000-£24,000 per annum in addition to a fantastic benefits package.
