NRG are working exclusively with a large organisation in the healthcare sector and due to their continued growth are looking to appoint a Senior Applications Developer to join their digital services team.


Starting Salary: £27,000+ pay progression + fantastic benefits including:

  • The post holder will develop, implement and support multi-user secure databases and applications in both web based and client /server environments, for use throughout the organisation.

  • The post holder will develop secure and maintainable websites

  • Provide a consultancy service to all clients, draft specification and quotations for databases or websites, working with staff of varying levels of IT literacy, working as part of development groups and on own initiative

  • To effectively develop a number of new systems, integrating a very diverse environment, which will assist the clients to fully benefit from its investment in IT and to achieve its own internal and external targets.

  • Participate in the on call Rota

  • To deliver a Software Development programme to clients in the time agreed to the quality expectation

  • Development of Client / Server Database applications.

  • Development of active, branching, Web forms including links to databases.

  • To produce and maintain documentation for all developments, including user and technical specifications.

  • To interface applications through client integration engines.

  • To maintain core software associated with any development e.g. SQL server.

  • To develop software routines in association with the client Integrated Clinical Record supplier to enable desktop applications to integrate with it.

  • To review completed projects and record results and areas where improvements could have been made.

  • To enforce and improve coding standards through solution and code reviews

  • To work closely with the Information teams to understand the information requirements of the services, and to use appropriate methodologies to define the system requirements of the services

  • To ensure full testing of applications before release.

  • To ensure all development lifecycles adhere to standing processes for version and source control, bug reporting, testing, and release.



  • Degree or equivalent level of knowledge through practical experience in IT or a related discipline

  • Significant experience in developing databases in SQL server

  • Knowledge and experience of Web 2.0 design and development tools.

  • Knowledge/experience of programming languages such as ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#.NET, ASP, PHP, XML, Visual Basic, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, HTML

  • Knowledge and experience of systems analysis and methodologies such as UML

  • Knowledge and experience of internet software (FTP, e-mail, etc.) and web protocols

  • Knowledge of network fundamentals

  • A sound knowledge of relational databases gained through theoretical and practical study

  • Coaching and mentoring practices and tools (either knowledge / experience of or skills and attributes in these)

  • Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods (as above, either knowledge / experience of or applied skills)


  • Knowledge of Internet Standards such as Accessibility guidelines, W3C, DDA etc.

  • NHS experience

  • Experience in providing informal training on a one to one basis and to groups.

  • Experience working as part of a software development team

  • Experience with source control techniques

  • Knowledge of Windows server operating systems
