About the Role
The principle purpose of the role will be to manage the strategic direction, funding and delivery of the activities for Bright Red. This role requires a leader with considerable experience of managing and developing a fundraising function. The post holder will be experienced in managing organisational and development across all functions, have an ability to work and adapt to a rapidly changing sector and have experience of working within an agile and fast moving organisation.
To develop and deliver a fundraising strategy leading to a significant increase in support for our work in the North East.
To develop and deliver a communication and public relations strategy leading to a significant increase in corporate support for our work in the North and throughout the country.
To identify, develop, and achieve new funding streams from both public and private sector, utilising senior resource as appropriate.
To initiate and develop relationships with a network of corporate contacts and individuals, to solicit gifts to support Bright Red’s work.
To prepare and deliver powerful presentations to groups and businesses to secure financial support, mutually beneficial sponsorship packages and to develop strategic partnerships.
Identify, develop and maintain long-term relationships with current and prospective donors/ sponsors/ funders, through regular correspondence, visits, meetings, updates and events
Effectively manage the team to empower and educate staff to reach their own individual targets.
Planning and Organising
To oversee the development of all fundraising events which lead to significant income generation for the Charity.
To maintain accurate records and complete any other administrative duties in keeping with the post.
To liaise with Bright Red’s board of trustees and people, to utilise and develop their contacts and use personal networks to secure them as supporters of the charity’s work.
To work flexibly as part of the Fundraising team and ensure a joined up approach.
Ensure all monies are banked and accurate financial records are maintained.
To continually look for ways to streamline the fundraising function and maximise fundraising income.
To participate in developing and maintaining a fundraising database.
To be responsible for initiating and developing new relationships to motivate and influence people at all levels to support the work of Bright Red.
To be responsible for maximising fundraising income by achieving (and exceeding) agreed fundraising targets.
To be responsible for delivering agreed objectives within set timescales.
To promote Bright Red’s aims and objectives continually through working practice.
Proven track record of delivering income or sales against specified targets.
Knowledge of fundraising planning and budgeting procedures.
Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create innovative and persuasive presentations.
Knowledge of the north east corporate sector.
Good strategic, analytical and evaluative skills including ability to develop innovative
strategies and campaigns.
Knowledge of database management.
Excellent organisational, project management and time management skills.
Excellent inter personal and communication skills with ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
