National Living Wage – Employers encouraged to prepare now
Businesses are urged to prepare for National Living Wage which will come into effect from 1 April 2016. Employees in the UK aged 25 and over will earn a minimum rate of £7.20 per hour, an increase of 50p per hour on the current rate for this age group.
NRG can help your business prepare for this change. Contact your consultant or NRG HQ for advice on:
- The correct rate of pay for your workforce
- Which staff will qualify for the new rate
- How to communicate this change to staff
- The penalties for companies who do not pay the NMW
The CIPD has conducted a survey on the expected impact on employers and this research suggests that the retail, hospitality and healthcare sectors will be hardest hit by this change.
Businesses should be preparing to adjust their pay rates and salary bandings to accommodate this legislation in time for 1 April 2016.
